BMW Motorcycles. Originally an aircraft engine manufacturer at the turn of the last century and through World War I, BMW introduced the first motorcycle under its name, the R32, in 1923.

BMW Motorrad, a subsidiary of BMW, manufactures the motorcycles. Although BMW motorcycles have been long associated with their original engine configuration, the flat-twin or boxer engine, the company today manufactures a full line of motorcycles in a variety of engine and riding configurations.

There are currently four lines of BMW motorcycles: F & G series singles, F series twins, R series and K series. The series differ primarily in the class of engine that each uses.

Following his serious crash during the Brands Hatch World Supersport race on Sunday August 3, Craig Jones has tragically lost his life.

The 23-year-old Brit was fighting for the lead in front of thousands of fans in the biggest race of the year when he lost control of his Parkalgar Honda and was subsequently hit by Ten Kate Honda rider Andrew Pitt.

Jones sustained serious head injuries in the crash and after being treated on track was transferred to the circuit medical centre before being airlifted to the Royal London Hospital.

Unfortunately despite intensive medical attention Jones died during the early hours of Monday morning.

Sealed batteries are known as maintenance free batteries. They are made with vents that (usually) cannot be removed. A standard auto or marine maintenance free battery is sealed, but not fully leak proof. Sealed batteries are not totally sealed since all batteries must allow gas to vent during charging.
